One of my clients (a bible college) is reviewing their pension arrangements and I would be grateful for examples of pensions offered by other organisations. Have any Christian organisations downgraded their pension offering?

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,
SU Scotland is a small charity of @100 employees where a pension scheme (contributory by choice) and an automatic (non contributory) Life assurance scheme is provided. Basic details noted below.

We have not made any recent changes to the scheme but several yrs ago a provison via Norwich Union to protect salaries on ill-health was ceased for new employees. It therefore remains for only a very few long term colleagues on a protected basis.

PENSION
SUS operates a Group Personal Pension Scheme, administered by Scottish Equitable PLC, for employees over 18 and under 75 years of age. Employees who choose to join the scheme are required to make a minimum employee's contribution of 4% of *gross pensionable salary. The employer’s contribution is 9% of gross pensionable salary. Eligibilty to join is on successful completion of a contractual probationary period, with contributions backdated to the date of employment.
* Pensionable salary’ includes any accommodation allowance (Centres staff only) and is calculated before any salary sacrifice for child care vouchers.

LIFE ASSURANCE
For all employees under the age of 70. The cost of this scheme is borne entirely by SU and currently provides a death benefit of three times the annual salary, payable to the next of kin, if the employee dies during their time as an SU employee.

Hope this is of assistance to you.
Jane

Hello,

Whilst I was at YFC we used a pension by the Evangelical Missionary Alliance. We were eligible to join this as members of Global Connections. We were introduced to it by Kingsworld Walder who are a Christian IFA. They (amongst others!) could give you more specific information.

Leon
